For my daughter’s first birthday, we wanted to give her a long lasting gift. We built her a deck for her playhouse and I “renovated” her Little Tikes house. We built a 10’x10′ deck with handrails and an infinity step across the front. You can find all of the accessories and the exact spray paint colors I used on her playhouse here.

We used nuts and bolts to screw in the solar sconce, Evie’s sign, the door handle and the doorbell so there would not be screws poking through on the inside to scratch her. I also painted the phrase “Let’s play” on a doormat to go in front of her house.

I couldn’t find a sconce color I liked, so I ended up using Rub ‘n Buff on the sconce, which is also what I used for the house numbers, door handle, doorbell and the mailbox.

The pictures below are proof to trust the process. You can make almost anything beautiful with a little bit of love and labor.

We want to give a huge shoutout to my Dad, brother and Pops for helping us build this for our baby girl’s first birthday. We will be able to enjoy this with her for many years to come.
Happy DIYing!
